Clubs at Hassayampa Elementary School

Would your child enjoy participating in an after-school club this year? Hassayampa offers a variety of clubs and programs. Your child is sure to find something that will interest him/her. Come join the fun!

We are happy to offer many after school programs for our students. The programs we offer include Power Hour, Extended Learning, Study Hour, Archery, Art Club, Coyote Chorus, Drama, Dark Knights-Chess, Fitness Wonders, Hassayampa Howlers, Stay and Play, Pet Parade, Science League, Mad Science, Spanish, and Technology Titans. Please take a moment to view our third quarter after school programs schedule. Archery Club

Archery Club is designed to teach international-style target archery which includes safety, archery history, technique, equipment, mental concentration, core-strengthening physical fitness, and self-improvement. The curriculum was written by the National Archery in Schools Program® (NASP®). Their partnership with the Arizona Game and Fish Department has made it possible for Hassayampa to offer such a great program. To learn more about the NASP® program, visit their website.

  • $25 activity fee (tax credit eligible)
  • Enrollment limited to 10 students

Requirements:

  • Activity fee due on sign-up day
  • Parent permission slip required
  • Students must maintain good attendance and good behavior
  • Parents must pick students up on time

Art Club

Art club is for 5th graders who love art and who want to expand their interest in art. The intent of the club is to encourage creativity and a love for art through inquiry, discovery, and wonder.

  • Meets every Monday until 4:00 p.m.
  • $11 annual fee (tax credit eligible)
  • Limited enrollment

Science camp

Fifth grade students meet monthly for science activities that help prepare them for a three-day science camp near the end of the school year in Idyllwild, California. Space is limited to 30 students on a first-come, first-served basis. We require a deposit on the trip at sign-up. Please see the club sponsors for more information.

Get involved with hands-on experiments. Learn the scientific method. Work cooperatively with other students. Imagine yourself in a science lab in the future. Travel to California for three days. Don't miss this awesome opportunity.

  • Meets monthly starting in December.
  • $175 (tax credit eligible)
  • Limited enrollment (40 students)

Requirements:

  • Attend all science meetings
  • Maintain passing grades
  • Parent permission slip
  • Exhibit appropriate behavior in school and at meetings

Chess Club

Our Chess Club, the Dark Knights, is an after school program for fourth and fifth grade students. The Chess Club will be targeted towards beginners but will also accommodate students who are more advanced. The main goal of this Chess Club is to provide a fun and safe environment where students can learn to play chess against their peers. This Chess Club will also be used to teach certain math skills that relate to chess.

Coyote Chorus

The Coyote Chorus is an after school program for fourth and fifth grade students who love to sing and move to the music! They perform at Festival Friday assemblies and go on “tour” as a community outreach to senior centers in our town during December.

  • Weekly on Thursdays until 4:00 p.m.
  • $8 annual fee (tax credit eligible)
  • Limited enrollment

  • Auditions required
  • Activity fee is due by the first meeting

  • Parents must pick up students on time

Friday After School Program

This program is for students whose parents work on Fridays. Hassayampa's experienced support staff supervise students during this program. During their time together, students will play games, have outdoor recreational time, and create special crafts. Students also receive a healthy afternoon snack.

  • Meets on Friday afternoons until 2:25 p.m.
  • $50 annual fee (tax credit eligible)
  • Grades one through five; kindergartners permitted only in special circumstances
  • Limited enrollment
